About

This Symposium is brought to you by the Trauma Studies Association at UW-Milwaukee and we hope to create a one-of-a-kind experience. Speakers will be covering a wide range of topics, which means there’s hopefully something for each of us to discover.

The Trauma Studies Association (TSA) is an interdisciplinary organization at the University of Milwaukee aspiring to promote the knowledge for the field of trauma and resilience studies through education, advocacy and community building. The TSA began in Dr. Dimitri Topitzes’ Community Building and Mindfulness course in the Helen Bader School of Social Welfare; students in the course yearned for continued connection with one another and deepening their own understanding of trauma and resilience studies outside of traditional coursework. We were particularly concerned with the connections between trauma and social justice. Our work thus is grounded in the intersection of trauma, healing, social justice, racial justice and criminal justice.
